TCS on RFV; Internet Shirts Going Bye-Bye

Monday, November 21, 2005 - 05:51 PM

Some interesting ruminations on Republicans for Voldemort from Tech Central Station regarding seeing our RFV merch in public. A bit of clarification on the article: although we did initially donate $1 per shirt sold to MoveOn, we haven't done that for over a year, so conservatives and Republicans can feel better about their irony-tinged purchase.

Also, As Seen On The Internet shirts are going away as of this Saturday, so if you want one, I suggest you make your purchase this week. Ninja and Ham shirts will continue to be available and fabulous.

In unrelated t-shirt news, Sam Logan sent me email to point out the similarity of this t-shirt to this one. Coincidence? Or just blatant assholery? We report, you decide.

That article is one of the most pathetic attempts to be clever I've seen in some time. Republican's for Voldemort didn't need explanation--his suggestions, like Environmentalists for Trelawney, did. 'Nuff said.

And what Republican would buy an RfV sticker??

That was incrdibly sad and pathetic. A part of me died reading that.

Until reading that article, I truly believed there was no such thing as bad publicity. But now people will assume people who wear RFV apparel are retards by association.

Seriously, dude. You CAN read too far into something. And as far as the moveon.org mixup: HOORAY FOR FACT-CHECKING!

Having spent more time staring at the enlarged images than I really should have, I vote: coincidence. If I were to draw a monkey watching TV, say, it would be the same kind of generic monkey from essentially the same viewer perspective. Except with even less talent than their shirt exhibits, if that is indeed possible. What makes your shirt work is (1) context, (2) glasses, and (3) manual typewriter.

Unless there is some hidden subtext here regarding splitreason.com, in which case, I abstain.

I'm not sure...if I were a Republican, I don't think that I'd want to display something likening my leader to the dark lord. But I'm not a Republican, so what do I know of such things?

A Republican without a sense of humour, more like.

What a sad, sad little man. And clearly a love of Harry Potter and not of Goats: when arguing from quotes of other people's opinions, which I'm pretty sure is a logical fallacy, he quotes Dumbledore. He quotes a fictional character in an attempt to convince us all to be more partisan and go to war together.

Republican. Ordered a shirt. Love it. The fact that when I ordered it I knew some of the money was going to Moveon merely heightened the amusement.

I just love the way it works. The right-wing propaganda machine links Iraq and Al Queda (as well as Republicans and Military) allowing for our agenda to move forward. The left wing propaganda machine links Bush and Stupid, doing absolutely nothing to the republican congress that, y'know... DID all this stuff. I'm all in favor of Voldemort as the next president.

We're all the right kind of people, at least a few of you should know your Douglass Adams. Remind me, what's Zaphod's job, and why is he so good at it?

Oh, wait. I don't agree with that.

I just don't agree with the kinds of evil that the Republican "congress" has "achieved".
