Horshack's character

Ok, I'm stumped. The creature looks very familiar but I can't place it. I checked out Farscape.com, looked at Babylon 5, even Googled and imdb-ed "drink his life essence" to no avail.
Any ideas???

And you got your Labyrinth in my ... nah, never mind. Jon doesn't need to get a C&D from Henson Associates, too.

But what vaguely reptilian echo of our collective pop-culture memory with excessive use of the letters "S" and "K" is Jon going to bring up next?

Skeksis, check; Sleestak, check. Is there a third to complete the trifecta?

Singular; I recall the plural as skekses from my read of the novel (many years back, so apply salt as desired).

As for the provenance of the critter, both Brian Froud and TCS had a habit of building things that were simultaneously birdlike and lizardlike (cf: the gryphon from The Luck Child, any of Froud's art books).

So call it right on the border of evolving from lizardish to birdish ... what Robert Bakker proposed as a new taxonomic order called "dinoaves". Yeah, Bakker's a bit wacky, but it's good wacky.

Is the grey-clad gent in today's strip (13th October) called the "Traveller" from Next Gen? I'm loathe to admit it, but I think I remember it.

I'm somewhat curious about how much Jon is drawing from memory and how much from "research" (i.e.: buying/renting the Star Trek: TNG DVDs and watching them for clues on how to progress his storyline).

I'll admit to doing Google image searches for visual reference, but the ideas come from a weary mind incapable of retaining new memories. Old ones are much easier to access. I'm fairly certain this is evidence of early-onset Alzheimer's.

That said, this was obviously the only way Wil's appearance could be wrapped up.

Does this mean that there's some Next Gen episode (or three) that would allow me to get the latest strip? Anyone want to pony up a name so I don't have to watch all 700? (Not that I have any intention of doing so...)

Cheers,

I believe the episode in question is "Journey's End". There are earlier episodes with the Traveler, but you can look those up yourself.

I guess Toothgnip will have to recast "Gummy, the disaffected skateboarder who has to decide between his heart and his homeland when he falls in love with a female terrorist" for the movie.

Not to mention he'll have to recast Kotter, as the "actor" portraying him had his circuits blown all over the inside of a VW microbus.
