I'll be awesomely jetlagged as well. If we meet at 9 it'll feel like 2 in the morning. Oh boy.

Like I said, can't make it on the 23rd. 5,000 miles is too far for anyone to drive for a pub night, especially over the ocean.

Well, you'll never drive across the ocean with that attitude, young man.

No doubt, interacting with a cartoon is a step up from interacting with a mandala or whatever he was before, but still.

I really can't make it on a Tuesday. It's a 154 miles, and I have to go around D.C.

I know that AB has already said he can't do the 30th.

I can't make any guarantees about my weekends after September.

Map [google.com]

The top speed of my automobile would get me there in roughly an hour and a half.

The laws require it to take about three hours. I could reasonably expect, if there were no other cars on the road, to get there in about two and a half hours.

The intervening traffic means that I can't get there at all on a Tuesday, since I have to work. Even if I left Baltimore at 3 pm, it would take me an hour or so to go thirtyish miles to the Outer Loop of the D.C. Beltway. It would then take me at least another hour to go one third of the way around -past one of the busiest intersections on the Beltway - to Route 66, which is another of the busiest intersections on the Beltway.

And then it would probably take another full hour to go 22 miles to Us-29. From there, it should be quick. It's only about another 75 miles, it should only take about an hour.

So that's about 4 hours, if I'm lucky. And then I have to be back *in* Baltimore the next day.

And no matter what time I leave, it's still going to take that same three hours to go from Manassas to Baltimore.

On the other hand...

Looking at my schedule more... I *don't* have to be in Baltimore on *Friday*.

So I can show up on the 28th, Thursday...

I'll be in Cville until at least December. That gives everyone plenty of time for another pub night, maybe even one in DC (my brother lives there, so I'm definitely go up there at some point).

The Court Square Tavern has a pretty good selection of international beers. Of course, as everyone on this forum knows, I'm no expert on that.

The C&O also makes an interesting choice, although to be honest it's more bar than pub, although more in the classy 1950s film hotel bar vein. I don't know what its beer selection is but you can't beat it for classy cocktails and whiskey/bourbon/scotch.

Apparently, Starr Hill [starrhillbeer.com] is not so bad either. And they do have the prestige of having an unbelievably shitty TMBG song written for them. They even made it into an even shittier video [youtube.com].

But I'm 30, so I'm allowed to be grumpy about undergrads.
