Any of you heading to Comic-con in San Diego? Maybe we can pick a pub near the convention center to hang out at one night...

That would depend on when you're there, of course.

I plan to send a minion. Possibly bearing gifts.

But my plans fall through, often.

If this comes out with two sigs, blame Phillip.

I'll be there, but the one doing the driving isn't much into the bar scene. Still, would be nice to meet other fans. I'll see what I can do to
blac...um...convince her to go >:).

There are not that many scary people at Comic-con really. To offset the unusually high number of asexual wizard-men, there are lots of sexy cat ladies and also at least one girl last year who was quite fetching a a Home Depot apron (and that is all). Pubs in the Gaslamp district are plentiful, but can be quite crowded. Henry's Pub [henryspub.com] was pretty big and not too crowded, if I remember right. The Field [thefield.com] is pretty rad but also it is very popular and crowded. Anyone have any suggestions? I will be there on Tuesday night so I will begin reconaissance work then.

Here's a list [citysearch.com] of 74 bars in the downtown/gaslamp district sorted by type.....granted you can probably toss most of them out....the Cuban Cigar Factory is pretty cool....cigars rolled by a Cuban, from tobacco grown in the US from Cuban seeds. Don't know if they have drinks though....so its not really what you'r looking for. But i'm sure there are plenty on the list that are good.

On a side note, Phillip, why can't we use target="_blank" in our <a href> tags?

We should be listed under "Goats", although I haven't seen the book yet, so I can't be certain.

We're going to be in the small-press area.

You think lots of people in costumes will scare Jon and Phillip?! Heh... you should've seen them at my "costumes optional" Hallowe'en/Housewarming/Birthday party a couple of years ago. I could've sworn I had a photo of 'em around here somewhere, but I guess not.

Anyway, for those going to San Diego, I have a single recommendation for you: Go have lunch on the outdoor patio at the Brockton Villa [brocktonvilla.com] in La Jolla. It's a stunning, wonderful view, and the food ain't bad, either.

And if you reaaaally want to blow your money, go to the restaraunt just up the hill from that one (you can see it with the glass windows at the top of the picture)

Even better views....but of course don't expect to walk out of there without spending more than $50 a person
